Tell Holga I love her!

After my last visit to the USA (2005) I lost my digital point and click camera and it was only a week or so before I could handle it no more – I had to go out and get a new camera. That camera was my Nikon D50 and from there the history of what sean saw really took off.

I’ve been without my SLR for two months and I think the last time I used it was at a party in May. I made the brave decision to leave the SLR behind – if you’re thinking of doing the same read ‘Photography and me‘ and see for yourself. I’ve largely not regretted this decision, the Canon S90 has been and continues to be almost perfect for everything that I need to take photos but sometimes that SLR desire scratches away, like an amputated limb!

When we were in Albuquerque I could take it no longer, I needed something that was akin to an SLR, something that would allow me to get back to basics. I opted for a 35mm Holga; all plastic, no batteries, fixed focal length and no special effects. I love it, it’s sated my need for an SLR and I can relax once more. I know look a lot like a muppet when wandering around with one tiny digital black camera and once larger bright blue film camera but I’m happy and that’s all that matters, right?

As soon as I’m through my first roll of film and it’s developed I’ll post the results. Maybe that will cure me of my need to use the Holga if they all turn out crappy!
